Have you been frustrated by the low performance of your laptop? If you have, you should notice that it needs your regular maintenance. Some people think it is inevitable even begin to think about buying a new one. Actually, this problem can be reversed. It is all about defragmentation.
Talking about defrag, you should understand first what fragmentation is. A fragment is a piece. Just like one piece of a broken china when you smash it on the floor. You have to be aware of the fact that sometimes the files that you install ends up into several chunks in different locations in your computer. This course is called fragmentation.
It happens as the following; when you first install the operating system of your computer, they are in the form of a continuous block in your hard disk without any gap. However, certain programs have to be saved in particular places. Under this circumstance, the files are scattered around your hard disk when you delete, install or uninstall programs, resulting in many holes in the one block.
With those fragment, windows have to find free space for the new-written files in the disk. For example, when you intend to save a 20M file into the disk and the biggest free space left for you is like 10M or 15M. What will happen if the computer could not find enough space? Windows will write the first chunk of this file into one place and continue to check for other locations in other sections of the hard disk. The result is that one file maybe ends up in several pieces dotted around your hard disk.
Now, there is a very simple way to handle this problem – defrag. Defrag is done by moving different chunks of one data to unused parts, which helps to spare a larger free section of the hard disk. It collects the fragments of the file and puts them together to form a complete piece without any gap to spare the space. The same goes to the next file, and then the whole hard disk is successfully defragmented.
Maintenance like this is necessary for our computer. When we defragment our hard drive, the computer is searching for all the small pieces of the files and trying to store them together. This course ensures the improvement of the computer’s performance. After the fragments are kept together as one complete file, less time is required. When you request the computer to search for one file, it doesn’t have to check every location to accomplish the task. You will be pleased to discover that the work is done in a short time.
A routine maintenance helps you know when your computer needs a cleaning out. We all like to keep our computer in a efficient condition since technology is not that cheap to purchase. All you need is a defragging system and you don’t have to spare your money to get a whole new system just because a reversible problem.
